5050 is calling for smart investment into our future. We’re calling for a move towards a 50-50 funding split between roads/highways, and smart transport solutions such as public transport and active transport like cycling and walking.

Let’s create a smart transport network that reduces our carbon emissions and our dependence on increasingly expensive foreign oil.

Generation Zero’s new project Adopt-an-MP will enable young people to directly engage with their Parliamentary Representatives on a long-term basis. Around New Zealand and internationally, youth are under-represented in voting statistics and under-represented in policy.

This is an opportunity for MPs and enthusiastic young people to share their thoughts, concerns, and visions for our future and encourage the political momentum needed to create a zero carbon Aotearoa.

 Elect Who was an ambitious Generation Zero initiative in which young New Zealanders all over the country interviewed their local politicians about their stance on solutions to climate change in the lead up to the 2011 General Election.We interviewed more than 100 politicians over the course of just over a month, empowering young New Zealanders to engage with their politicians. The results were put up on the Elect Who website, which was designed to help young people vote for a safe and thriving future.
