Flashmob floods Cuba Street
Over 150 members of Gen Zero flooded Cuba Street Mall in Central Wellington yesterday in the form of a choreographed ‘storm surge’.
The event demonstrated the impact that sea level rise would have on Wellington and coastal regions throughout the world unless strong and immediate action is taken on climate change.

Bye Bye, Business As Usual – Youth Mourn Climate Policy
Business As Usual’s cause of death as “fossil fuel addiction”.
It says: “Evidence suggests Business As Usual suffered cardiac arrest after overdosing on a toxic cocktail of fossil fuels, inequality and debt.”
Today’s mock funerals are part of a series of events Generation Zero is holding to mobilise youth in the run-up to the elections. Talks and debates held so far have attracted crowds of up to 500 people and the group has a growing base of young people who are “voting for the climate” this election.

ETS recommendations would shift even more burden to young people
“The Government thinks it is a good idea to sell profitable state assets to pay down debt, but on the other hand it is running away from implementing costs on carbon emissions that would ease the debt – both economic and ecological – being transferred to the future as a result of inaction on climate change.”

National MP says “NO” to Lignite Mining
When prompted to answer whether or not lignite mining should go ahead with either yes or no, Woodhouse flatly answered with “No”. Woodhouse later told Generation Zero that his reasoning behind his answer was that he has a growing concern about the emissions released cause by the process of transforming lignite coal into diesel petrol.
