Zero Carbon Pathways
Zero Carbon Pathways is a collaborative research project being coordinated by Generation Zero and involving young researchers from around the country. Knowledge is power, and it is a vital ingredient in effecting change. This work is about building and communicating knowledge of solutions to the climate and energy crises amongst the generation that most needs to know.
The Zero Carbon Pathways project will bring together research on the full range of opportunities that New Zealand has to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our aim is to demonstrate how our country could reach zero emissions from fossil fuels and carbon neutral agriculture before 2050, while providing for the well-being of our people. Alongside the Zero Carbon Pathways work, we will be researching and consulting to design a portfolio of immediate policy priorities for the incoming government.
We cannot claim to have all the answers, but we can stand on the shoulders of our wise elders and prove what New Zealand is capable of if we as a country choose to commit. In essence, our work is about restoring hope that the problems confronting the world are solvable. Watch this space in late August for the first raft of material from the Zero Carbon Pathways project to emerge.
